 5 (Five) Paragraph Essay

INTRODUCTION

This is the first paragraph of any essay body and since it holds the impact of the text so it is of prime importance.

The choice of style in assembling an introduction depends on an individual?s choice how he/she wants the mood of the essay to be.

1) ONE LINER STARTER

The one liner starters may consist of the following requisites:

Ultimate and purposeful

Brief and direct

Frank and blunt

Fresh and ornate vocabulary

ONE LINER STARTERS CAN BE:

Definitional statement:

A formal and proper description narrating the what, why and how of the main theme in 2 or 3 sentences. Later on the words in the definition can be used to build up the draft of the paragraphs by adding minor details.

Dialogue:

An exchange of ideas, quotation or a discourse shedding light what the reader is in for e.g. I m

Astounding information:

Giving a start by putting a few related facts and figures in the picture not only work as good definitions but tell the reader that the writer is someone with a good command over the area under discussion

Opening statement in form of a question:

Questions that consist of the following basics illustrate half knowledge

Relativity

Logic

Opening up of new areas of discussion

Critical and grave

Anecdote:

A story or tale elaborating the meaning and objective of your thesis statement. It could be fiction or non fiction depending on how you want to relate it with the essence of the text.

While using jargon avoid playing around with serious arguments and confusing statements that only you can understand and that may leave a puzzled impression on your teacher. As that can leave you the puzzled one when u receive your grades :-)

Purposeful description:

The stuff you come up with should lead somewhere and should not look like a copy paste thing.

2) CONTROVERSIAL PROPOSITION

Starting with a proposition that is intended to create divisiveness in the content is a great attention grabber. Not only does it awake interest of the reader (your teacher) and gets him hooked that he is in for some serious cram but it also provides you with a  backstage from where you  work out on the rest of the report effectively. It sort of acts as a short-lived indicator that keeps you in check of the amount of analysis your writing has to forego by yourself. Some fundamentals for adopting this style are:

a) A paradoxical statement:

Contradiction is a very on setting tool to grab attention

b) A sarcastic statement:

Irony and taunt blended into the statement develop the interest of the reader.

c) A funny narration:

Interesting description or adjustment of related jokes or tales which should not drag the write up but go with the flow of continuity.

d) A statement contradicting the theme of the actual content:

The necessary must haves for this technique are:

Brief and direct

Catchy and appealing

Hilarious or offensive

E.g. you are given to write on the geopolitical importance of a state X. You begin by stating; ?X is a state located   altogether in the wrong setting?. And then you satisfy this declaration by telling the reader the importance of the adjacent A, B and C states or the position of the land and sea routes that enhance its importance.

Note: it should be followed on with an explanation i.e. relating the contradiction with the actual theme. You can start by contradicting the essay topic right in the beginning that will leave the reader slighted or somewhat shocked but don?t over do it or you?ll be the one left on the offended side :-)
